Bosch Bypass valve (== diverter valve often used for similar function as a BOV blow-off valve or pop-off valve):
Protects the charge cooler, compressor blades and pre-throttle piping from pressure spikes when suddenly closing throttle during boost condition. Most efficient when valve inlet is connected just before throttle, and output ("recycle") exhales to compressor inlet.
PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THIS DRAWING ! RESEARCH THE CONNECTION DIRECTION FROM OTHER SOURCES.
SjmAutotechnic.com images consistently have the boost pressure connected to the tube close to the reference-nipple. Which might be the proper way to install (although we verified that SAAB connects to the tube opposite the reference-nipple). We appreciate feedback: click here and Edit
- 25mm thick inlet: from pre-throttle
- 5mm thin reference pressure nipple (top): from intake manifold
- 25mm thick output: pre-compressor

- If you like functionality and small size, choose this diaphragm type
- If you like the loud whistling BOV's, check out the more fancy piston type BOVs
It's basically the diaphragm type vs piston type. Diaphragm models is a better construction, less mass - less leakage. Some people run two side-by-side to get more air out quickly.
